GOLF FORE AFRICA, INC.

GFA is a 501(C)3 corporation engaging the golf community and compassionate community members to fund clean water for extremely impoverished children and families in Africa.

Why water?

WATER GIVES LIFE. Water should give life, not take it. Dirty, disease-ridden water robs a child of more than the time it takes to collect it. It can steal their education. Their health. Even their life!  More than 700 children still die each day due to diarrhea caused by unsafe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).

WASH are essential for children and their families to live healthy, prosperous lives. WASH is at the core of child health and development and is vital for a child’s well-being. We focus on helping bring clean water, dignified sanitation and effective hygiene practices to communities, schools and healthcare facilities.

The world has made a commitment to ensure that everyone has access to safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene by 2030.  Golf Fore Africa is playing a significant part in achieving this goal by collaborating with our Implementation Partner, World Vision.

Position:

The ideal candidate will find the mission of Golf Fore Africa rewarding and exciting. They will have related experience (event, marketing, social media, or similar transferable skills) but of equal importance, they will bring a proactive mindset and an enthusiastic, flexible attitude. They are organized and process-oriented, but able to move quickly and adapt when needed. It is critical to graciously interface with many people from diverse backgrounds and demographics. This role is significantly client facing and requires active networking and relationship building across varying donors and partners . This is an excellent role for those wanting to consistently add new skills to their portfolio and embrace continuous learning/development. Opportunities for expansion of role and upward movement are consistently available. Success in this role can be achieved by someone who is energetic, creative and an “idea person” who will follow up with implementation. A background in the golf industry and community would be terrific!

Specific Responsibilities:

• Assist with event development and implementation including golf Pro-Ams, dinners, auctions, golf clinics, donor events
• Support and contribute to marketing initiatives, event planning/management and administrative tasks/objectives
• Assist with outreach to external organizations and individuals to increase GFAs visibility
• Assist with soliciting for event participation, auction items and donors
• Establish knowledge base of organization, partners, and cause
• Assist with creating and designing physical and electronic materials including signage for events, flyers and other marketing materials
• Brainstorm events, strategies, donor development with team. Bring in your good ideas!
• Support staff by representing GFA at events across the country with content creation and event coordination, travel will be limited but occasionally necessary
• Track and manage a list of leads and their information mined from social media and personal contact

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

• Experience or internship in related position or field
• Proficiency in Google Suite, email engagement platforms (MailChimp), and website content management systems (WordPress). Equivalent transferable skills from other systems are welcome
• Outstanding organizational skills, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
• Excellent copywriting and editing skills: clear, concise, creative, and grammatically correct copy
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent customer service skills
• Independent worker who is also skilled at respectful team collaboration and support
• Comfortable speaking on the mission and impact of GFA to partners and constituency
• Ability to travel within/outside the state 2-3  times a year, if necessary
• Passion for the Golf Fore Africa mission
• Respectable golf handicap and contacts in the golf community are a bonus!
